A ROARing Good Time!

The Taipei zoo is conveniently only a half hour bus ride away! It's very cheap(around $3.00 U.S.) and you even get to ride a zoo train for an extra $5NT (15 cents U.S.) a person.

We've been there a couple of times. These pictures are of the day Daddy took the kids to the zoo while Mommy stayed home to scrapbook.
Above is Clayton with part of his fan club. Everywhere he goes he attracts the ladies' attention. If we only had a dollar for every time we were asked if they could take his picture. Shawn thinks they're really interested in him but they just use Clayton as an excuse to talk to him. Whatever???? Although another group of girls did approach Shawn on this day and ask him for his cell phone #. Boy did that give Shawn an ego boost! But it turned out that they had a deal with their English teacher. She challenged them that if they talked to Shawn and got him to give them his cell phone # and she called and confirmed they had actually done it then she'd pay them each $10 NT(30 cents). Shawn eventually agreed. A bit later when the girls had met up with their teacher on the other side of the zoo, Shawn got a phone call from their English teacher. He gave the girls a good report and suggested they each get $20 NT.
We were amazed at the number of rhinos and other animals at this zoo! We're used to seeing a small sampling of each type of animal. They also had Koala's at this zoo. I'm not sure that we'd ever seen them at another zoo. Shawn's students had told him that you could take the Koala's home for the weekend and take care of them and then return them on Monday. Shawn was so surprised to hear this. It turned out they had misunderstood the sign that said, "Adopt a Koala." Of course it meant you could donate money for food for the koala's...not take them home and feed them.

Dear Grandpa,
That thing wasn't a donkey. It was a zebra! And it wasn't as fun as Bubba. It was just a statue. But it was fun trying to get on it.

Courtney

Gina,
Do I get to set that age??? I'm not sure when I'll be ready to share all of the affection he gives me! He's definitely my little prince. As for the zoo...I thought it was nice enough. It's certainly affordable. It rained the first time we went and was a bit cold. Shawn took the kids back by himself and they had a nice time. We're planning to go this Thurs. morning with our playgroup. If you're interested in meeting us there give us a call.
