Clayton, Patrick, Cailin, Rachel and Courtney are ready to dig Sassafrass root! On this visit to Illinois we stopped to see our friends and went on a nature walk...we dug Sassafrass, picked up hickory nuts and took a walk by the creek looking for animal tracks. We took our Sassafrass roots home and boiled them to make tea! Yum!
Later that same day we picked up persimmons that grow wild near Grandma and Grandpa's house. It was still early in the season so many were still on the tree. But we got enough to make a couple of batches of persimmon cookies.
